These terms apply only to the services that Arif Çınar Tekin (“we”) runs alone, as an individual and without commercial purpose: account.perch.ws (Perch accounts and shared notes), app.perch.ws (the web reader) and sync.perch.ws (the sync relay), and demo.perch.ws, a test server for App Review that may be reset at any time. By using them you accept these terms. You can reach us at [email protected].

They don't apply to using the apps on their own, without our services, or to Perch Servers run by anyone else — those operators set their own rules and are responsible for them.

1. What Perch is

Perch is a free, open-source reader for RSS, Atom and JSON feeds. It shows what publishers put in their feeds. The articles, images and videos belong to their publishers; we don't write, check or endorse them, and we aren't responsible for them.

Perch's source code is available under the MIT License, which has its own terms and no warranty. If you run your own Perch Server, you are its operator: you're responsible for it and for the data of the people who use it, and you need your own privacy policy and terms — ours don't cover it.

2. Your account

• You must be 13 or older to make an account.
• One account per person.
• Keep your password to yourself, and keep your recovery code somewhere safe. Only a key derived from your password reaches us, and only a hash of the recovery code, so we can't tell you either. If you lose both, we can't recover the account.
• Sync chains have no account: whoever has the chain code can read and change its data. If every device loses the code, we can't recover it — we never had the key.

3. Your notes

Your notes are yours. You give us only the permission we need to store them, sync them to your devices and, when you share one, show it to anyone with the link — for as long as it is shared. Stop sharing or delete the note and the permission ends.

You are responsible for what you share. Quote articles briefly and link to the original; don't paste whole articles or other people's work.

4. What's not allowed

Don't use Perch, and especially shared notes, to:

• publish anything illegal under Turkish law or the law that applies to you;
• harass, threaten or incite hatred or violence against anyone;
• publish someone else's personal data without a legal basis;
• infringe copyright, trademarks or other rights;
• spread spam, scams, malware or links to them;
• overload, probe or attack our servers, get around rate limits, or use the sync relay to store things that aren't Perch data.

If you break these rules we may hide shared pages, and for serious or repeated breaches suspend or delete the account. Where we can, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

5. Reporting content and taking it down

Every shared note has a Report form at the bottom. You can also write to [email protected] with the page's address and what's wrong with it.

Under Türkiye's Law No. 5651, we act as a hosting provider for shared notes: we don't check content before it's published, but when we're notified of unlawful content we review it and remove it if it's unlawful. We aim to review reports within 48 hours, and we comply with orders from courts and competent authorities within the time the law sets. A removed page says that it was removed. If your page was removed and you think that's wrong, write to us and we'll look again.

6. The service

Perch is free and provided “as is”. We work to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or never lose data. Keep your own copy of what matters: you can export your subscriptions as OPML at any time.

We may change or stop features. If we ever shut down a service that holds your data, we'll announce it on perch.ws and in the apps at least 30 days ahead, so you can take your data with you. We don't have your email address, so we can't write to you.

7. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect damages, lost data or lost profits arising from using Perch, or for content published by feeds or by other users. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that can't be waived.

8. Ending

You can stop using Perch and delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting the account removes your data from our server as described in the privacy policy.

9. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. Disputes go to the competent courts and enforcement offices of Türkiye, without affecting any mandatory right you have to go to the courts or consumer arbitration committees where you live.

10. Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update this page and announce it on perch.ws and in the apps before the change takes effect. Every version is in the project's history.
